Dear "the Darkroom,"
First off, thank you for allowing me to frequent your establishment last night. I appreciated the opportunity to gather with my friends at 2210 W Chicago Ave in Chicago, IL.
However, there are a couple of issues I would like to raise with your management team. First off, I don't appreciate paying $1 for a bottle of water when I order a glass of ice water. I asked for a glass of ice water, but instead I received a bottle of "Mountain Ice" bottled water and was charged a fee. Your mom. I'm not opposed to paying for bottled water in some instances. In fact, many times I will purchase a bottle of water at a gas station or vending machine because of the convenience of a disposable portable container and a lack of water source. However, I can clearly see that you have many clean glasses available, a cooler full of ice and a dependable source of clean water. Would it have been much trouble to mix the three of them together for me? I already paid $5 to get into your bar, and being asked to pay for water (and crappy truck stop bottled water at that) is insulting.
I have been to several bars that are very classy and sell bottled water to maintain an image of exclusivity. Your bar is not one of them. I don't drink alcohol, and I realize you are in the business of selling alcohol. However, I transport people who buy alcohol and I will not transport them to the Darkroom again.
I also would like to point out that your music is played two sizes too big. I find it difficult to converse with others when I'm afraid that I'm going to spit because I'm yelling.
Thank goodness my mouth was dry because of your water policy.
Truly,
SoberDan
Dude that bar sucks, I ran into a similar situation at Kai's in the district...I had spent well over $20 that night on booze, and I decided to stop drinking, before I got to wild, and I ordered a glass of water, and the lady would not give me water. She gave me the option of giving me ice, or buying a bottle of water for $1.50. Then of course I questioned that policy, she explained that the owner says, if you can afford to drink or go out you should be able to buy a bottle of water. I declined both and walked away...you would think that bars would have no problem giving glasses of water out, or pop, because the people that drink it, are usually the DD's, and someone has to bring their customers to the bar, you would think the bars would embrace the DD's and be grateful, and don't they owe it to someone that has given money for booze, a simple glass full of water? Man the world is crazy....
