Oh Beautiful Spring

Spring is finally here. Hot damn. Spring time is marked by several notable benchmarks. The first is spring training. Baseball is being played across the country. Despite the possibility that the Cubs may have to recruit from the Little League to replace their almost entirely disabled pitching roster, I have faith that the Cubs will again be playoff contenders. While winning is important, what I'm really looking forward to is falling asleep on the couch with the Cubs games on in the background.

The second tell-tale sign of spring is MTV Spring Break. Thank goodness for Fat Joe, 50 Cent and Ludacris. They have the role of providing us all with approximately 9 minutes of original entertainment that MTV will replay for the better part of the next month. OK, I'm forgetting to mention Room Raiders Spring Break edition and the 30 minute special where Rob Schneider rubs pudding all over a 19 year old girl who spent most of the winter dancing in the basement of a fraternity house.

And who can forget March Madness? Let's be honest with ourselves. Basketball isn't really that fun to watch unless you're betting on the outcome. Like every year in the past, I made my picks based on the team with the coolest name. Naturally, I had Fairleigh-Dickinson battling Gonzaga for the national title. I've already mathematically eliminated myself from contention in next years pool. I had better odds betting that Michael Jackson wouldn't show up at court in his pajamas.
