A nine volt battery, when touched to a tongue, provides a nice little shock. The shock, while startling, does not cause injury when applied sparingly. However, what happens if you hold the battery to someone's tongue for an extended period of time? I'm really curious but frankly too chicken to find out on my own. If anyone knows the answer or has a hypothesis, please share.

Also, the nine volt battery shocks the tongue because the tongue is moist. Applying the same battery to skin does not shock. What happens if a nine volt battery is applied to an eyeball? Again, too chicken to find out on my own.
You may wonder what kind of sick person thinks up these scenarios, but if you put a sober kid in an Irish bar on the eve of St. Patrick's Day and surround that same kid with drunken companions, strange conversations are destined to occur and be remembered.
Just my theory, but hypothetically keeping the battery on the tongue would allow a continued charge going from the positive to negative (or vice versa?) pole. Over time, you would begin to burn your tongue.
