An Ode to My Sister for Her Birthday

My sister had a birthday this week. I won't say how old she is because she is a lady and she is older than me and I must respect her privacy. Suffice to say that she is much nearer to 30 than she is to 27 (that means 29). My sister is an amazing person.

I'm convinced that my sister is a superhero. I don't know if she can leap tall buildings, I doubt she can shoot webbing out of her hand, and I'm certain she doesn't have an invisible jet (although if it's invisible, I might not have noticed it before). However, she has three children that are between the ages of two and seven, and anybody who can deal with that mess is a superhero in my eyes.

You might know somebody who has three kids, or you might have three kids yourself, and you might be thinking that three kids isn't that much to handle. You haven't met my niece and nephews. They are hellions. Sure, they're cute, but the three of them at once is like storming the beaches of Normandy. To the credit of my nephews and niece, any one of them taken individually is a wonderful child to be around. My sister doesn't have the luxury of dealing with them one at a time.

Using her superpowers, my sister is able to balance soccer practice, cub scouts, potty training, cleaning, baseball practice, 4H, dance lessons, cooking, sleeping, eating, and a whole other multitude of tasks that I probably don't even know about. Add into the equation a husband, a farm, and a side business, and you can see that she must certainly have superpowers.

I'm not sure exactly what kind of superpowers she has, but I'm sure they're awesome. I think she has x-ray vision so that she can see what the hellions are doing in the other room. I've also often suspected that her mini-van has turbo jet boosters. No matter what, though, she is awesome and I want to wish her a Happy Birthday!!!

WOW! I haven't stopped by your website in about 3 weeks and glad I did finally. I'm so touched by your kind words Dan. What a nice little bro. I had a sweet birthday. Yeah I'm 29 & HOLDING! Actually I am counting down the last 300 & some days of my twenties! Kinda depressing but I'm going to surely make the best of my last days of 20 somethings. Thanks for the ODE Dan... & yes the kids are exactly what you say. :o)

Love ya,
Care Bear
